Seems to me that it is all about oil. The Kurds want their share; the Sunnies want theirs; and the Sheits want theirs. Seems to me they should all get a share of Iraqi oil revenue roughly equal to their share of the Iraqi population. The ones who shouldn't get their hands on Iraqi oil revenues are the big oil companies and members of the current U.S. administration. Sure, the Iraqis will need to hire those big oil companies to get the oil from the ground into the cars and other machinery that uses oil. But those contracts should be fair, reasonable and short term. Long enough for the oil companies to earn a reasonable profit on their investment in equipment and personnel and short enough so that the Iraqis can someday take over it they decide that is better for them.
So, who out there still thinks that this administration would have lied to us just to get a cruel dictator off the backs of the Iraqi people? Who thinks our service men and women would be dying and getting wounded out there if profits in oil were not involved? And who thinks this war would go on if congress were to pass a bill that said that members of the administration could not profit from the oil that will flow out of Iraq once we leave? We don't need a deadline for getting out; what we need is a prohibition against making money our of staying. With that we'd be out in a heartbeat.
